Kalaupapa National Historical Park Logo Pin

Official Kalaupapa National Historical Park logo pin. Collectible pin bearing the image of St. Philomena Catholic Church located in Kalawao on the island of Molokai.

St. Philomena church is best known for having been expanded by Father Damien after his arrival on Molokai. Father Damien moved to Molokai to help care for and minister to the patients with Hansen's disease. Kalaupapa serves as a reminder of a nation in crisis when Hawaiian people were exposed to diseases for which they had no immunities. Kalaupapa, once a community in isolation,  now serves as a place for education and contemplation.

Kalaupapa National Historical Park was founded in 1980.

Pin reads "Molokai, Hawaii" along the top and "Kalaupapa National Historical Park" on the bottom. Pin measures approximately 1.25" across and 1.25" tall.
