3x5 December 7th USA Flag Flown On USS Arizona Memorial At Pearl Harbor
- Nylon flags are better suited for outdoor display
- Polymax/cotton flags are thicker and heavier
The first fold of the American flag is a symbol of life.
The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.
The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.
The fourth fold is a symbol of our weaker nature, as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.
The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, the United States of America. For in the words for Stephen Decatur, "Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong."
The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.
The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day.
The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.
The 10th fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first born.
The 11th fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.
When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, "In God We Trust."
After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it has the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and the sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones and were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the U.S. Armed Forces, preserving for us the rights, privileges and freedoms we enjoy today.
Flags are flown ceremonially three times a year: December 7 (anniversary of attack on Pearl Harbor), Memorial Day and Independence Day. You can also have your flag flown on a specific date as long as you place your order 7 days in advance. The only days we don't fly flags are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day as Pearl Harbor National Memorial is closed. Can I personalize my Pearl Harbor Certificate of Flag Presentation?
Yes. When placing your order, please input the name or names you'd like on your certificate. We recommend one line with 45 letters max. We also recommend writing "John Smith" instead of "JOHN SMITH".Polymax or Nylon?
The polymax flag is a thicker, heavier material that is similar to cotton. Most people cannot tell the difference. The nylon flag is thin and soft to the touch and does much better for flags being flown outside. Nylon flags are also generally easier to fold.
Flags are usually shipped via FedEx and will always include a tracking number. You will be emailed your tracking number as soon as we have packed your flag and other items (if any).Easy Returns
If for whatever reason you decide you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can easily and quickly contact our helpful customer support team to get started on your easy refund.
I fave this flag to my Dad for Christmas. He is a WW2 Navy veteran and new some of the men who perished on the Arizona. He was so very pleased with the flag. He is 98 and still hosts Christmas Eve at the home where we all grew up ( seven kids) in NYC.
So thankful to connect to our history in this way. It helps bring our past to life when my students see a flag that was flown over the USS Arizona Memorial in a display case in classroom. Thank you for making this possible!
My husband and I are both Navy veterans, Vietnam era, he served 10 years and I served three. We were stationed together at Fleet Weather Central, Pearl Harbor from 1970-1972. We loved Pearl and it was an honor to serve in a place with such historical significance. Our daughter and her husband are avid history buffs and patriotic lovers of our nation. We purchased a flag flown on December 7, 2019, over the Arizona memorial. The video of her opening the box, reading the certificate and understanding the significance of the flag is priceless. The tears were flowing and she was emotionally impacted. Thank you for providing these beautiful flags, a remembrance to the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom. May we never forget!
Presented to my husband, a WWII buff, yesterday for Christmas. Said "Oh Wow" as he read the certificate (given first) and then said "That's -insert word here- Cool!" when I handed him the flag. He was very surprised, humbled and loves it. The customer service team are great and quick responses - to my calls and emails. I had a few hiccups (my errors) during the ordering process and Desiree was beyond awesome on getting everything fixed and corrected before my order was processed and shipped. She even caught a misspelling and fixed that too. Thank you Pacific Historic Parks Bookstore and you excellent team. Thank you for making a great Christmas happen!
