Second to the last to leave USS Arizona 12.7.41

The Lauren F. Bruner story, Memoir of a Sailor, by Edward J. McGrath and Craig O. Thompson.

"This is the best written and most detailed account of the Attack on Pearl Harbor that I have ever read. It is a true and exciting account, and pretty much exactly like it happened. I should know, since I was on USS Arizona on the morning of 7 December 1941 and was also lucky to make it out alive. This book is so good I didn't want it to end." — Lou Conter, Quartermaster 3/c, USS Arizona crew member and survivor

"Second to the Last to Leave is a really good story and I guess I should know, because I was on the Arizona with Lauren all those years ago. The way the book is written tells it pretty much exactly the way it happened and the way I remember it. It's been a lot of years and I've read a lot of books all trying to tell the story without ever having been there. But I'll tell you, Lauren's book tells it like it really was." — Howard Kenton Potts, Coxswain, USS Arizona crew member and survivor.

U.S.S. Arizona Second to the Last to Leave

First of all, I want to thank Mr. McCoy for his follow-up correspondence. He is very professional and a credit to the National Park System. Second, I ordered the book specifically from your bookstore as I have been there before (75th Anniversary Commemoration) and wish to support you all. Finally, Mr. Brunner’s story is RIVETING! I read the entire book in 3 days! While reading it I felt as if I were there during the attack. I highly recommend this book and am already speaking with other History/Social Studies Teachers about it! Please keep up your good work and know how much I appreciate you all. Thank you. Memories from the battleship Arizona

A fascinating story of one of the last remaining survivors of the U.S.S. ARIZONA . Now that Lauren has recently passed away , this makes this story even more poignant .

This was a fantastic read

I purchased this book after my family made a recent holiday to Pearl Harbour and came home with a photograph of the USS Arizona gun turrent explosion after purchasing some T-shirts and other items. Once I read the photograph story I intstantly investigated more about the book, and was thoroughlly wrapt. The book is superb and I would highly recommend it to any other veteran (although a lot younger) for a great read. I loved it. Thank you very much. It arrived in Australia super quick too from when I purchased it. Thanks again.
