Giving Tuesday is a national campaign occurring on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, as a way to begin the giving season and contribute charitable donations to nonprofits. This year, Giving Tuesday is on December 3, 2019. By participating in #GivingTuesday, you can spread awareness and give back to nonprofit organizations like Pacific Historic Parks.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
Many children today are far removed from the attack on Pearl Harbor and what drove the United States to enter into World War II. The vast majority of their parents weren't even born until after World War II. As such it's a challenge to teach today's youth what happened and why. We work every day to educate our youth, both locally and internationally, about what happened during World War II in the Pacific. We teach history and social studies with a focus on patriotism, remembrance, understanding, honor, teamwork, and excellence.
This #GivingTuesday you can invest in volunteer, education, and preservation programs at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial (USS Arizona Memorial), such as Volunteers in Parks, The Path Towards Reconciliation, Forgiveness and Peace, and Rendezvous with History.
Pearl Harbor National Memorial volunteers are invaluable at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. They main the volunteer desk, answer questions, weed flower beds, and help paint and maintain the USS Arizona Memorial.
The Path Towards Reconciliation, Forgiveness and Peace educates students using the story of Sadako Sasaki, Dorinda Nicholson and The Pearl Harbor Warriors.
Rendezvous with History is the recorded oral histories of World War II Survivors, Eye-witnesses and civilians. Through our online portal, students, educators, researches and many more can look into the eyes of those who courageously fought and learn the valuable lessons they continue to teach.
