World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument at Pearl Harbor: Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt. This includes the book and badge.
What is the Jr. Ranger Program? Most of the United State's large National Parks have their own Junior Ranger programs. The National Park Service's Junior Ranger program at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is truly exceptional. It's ideal for families that are traveling with children from 8 years to 12 years of age. Kids will get a special opportunity to become Junior Rangers by answering questions throughout our world class museums and along the shoreline. Your family will travel back in time in the first museum to see what life was like before the attacks on Pearl Harbor and what Japan was doing in the South Pacific during the 1930s. Then your kids will learn about the ancient Hawaiian Pearl Harbor Shark Goddess that is said to have lived at the entrance of the Harbor. Your Junior Ranger adventure will then go to the Attack gallery where they will see real and model aircraft and weapons used by both Japanese and Americans during World War II.
Once the book is completed, feel free to find a Park Ranger to be sworn in as an official Junior Ranger for our the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument.
Through completing this Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt, families will learn why it is so important for all of us to remember, honor, and understand those affected by the attack on December 7, 1941.
Junior Ranger books are available in English, Japanese and Mandarin.
