Steady Nerves and Stout Hearts

by Robert J. Cressman, J. Michael Wenger, and John F. Divirgilio

This book began as an article recounting the trials and tribulations of the 36 men (Enterprise's air group commander, his passenger, 13 crews from Scouting Squadron Six and four from Bombing Six) who were Pearl-bound on the morning of 7 December 1941.

As that work progressed, however, the authors became convinced that, almost without exception, none of the accounts of Pearl Harbor that had emerged over the years preceding their efforts described accurately the experiences of these men nor detailed what other operations the carrier Enterprise (CV-6) and her air group conducted on that day.

Therefore this book identifies the men from the Enterprise who were in the air that morning in the skies near or over O'ahu and details what happened to them.

Soft cover. 112 pages. Includes black and white photographs and maps.
