A SAD BUT WONDERFUL STORY. IT CRY, HAVE A BOX OF TISSUES NEAR BY. IT IS A TESTAMENT TO THE HUMAN EXRERINCE
During the early 80s, my brother and I spent one week “volunteering” (doing maintenance work at the Protestant church) in Kalaupapa. We had no idea at that time that this would prove to be one of life’s most meaningful experiences, providing us with so much more than we could possibly return. I happened upon this beautiful book by searching for the obituary of a resident who became a friend, and discovered he was featured here. In addition to being an accurate portrayal of a controversial history, this book contains personal accounts of the lives of many residents (some of whom we were privileged to meet and spend time) shared through thoughtful interviews and stunning photographs. Words cannot adequately express my humble gratitude for this important work. Mahalo to the authors for shining a brilliant beam of light on the resilient and incredibly generous people of Kalaupapa.
Nice but upset it was not signed as requested. This was a birthday present
Love the hat and the T-shirt especially since I have tied to relatives that served on and near the Arizona
We saw the puzzle in the store at Pearl Harbor, but didn't want to have to keep up with it or try to fit it in our suitcases, so we ordered it online. It beat us home! Can't wait to put it together.
Very happy with the National Park pin. Gift for my granddaughter who collects national park pins. I would so love to visit this National park.
This is our second purchase, it was raised over the USS Arizona in honor of a family member that served in WWII. It will fly over the farmstead where he raised his family.

I am very sorry that Sadako Sasaki lost her life due to radiation poisoning from the bomb. It is tragically sad that the leaders of Japan chose to start a war with the United States and with other countries. The Japanese military were horribly cruel to the people in the countries they occupied. There are many, many sad and tragic stories associated with WWII in the Pacific and all over the world. We do have the right to defend our country from others that wish us harm. Weak countries will always need protection. If we allow ourselves to become weak, then we will need to be protected and who will come to our defense? It is not an ideal world and we must face that reality. Peace is always the goal but not always attainable. If you are not familiar with WWII, then I urge you to educate yourself. There are no simple or easy answers to very complex issues involving war and humans seem destined to ignore history.
