Surviving COVID-19

To our valued members, customers and supporters:

Like so many other non profits, Pacific Historic Parks has been hit hard by COVID 19. All five of the parks under our umbrella, including the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, home to the iconic USS Arizona Memorial, were shut down in mid March 2020 when the pandemic hit.

Four of the parks have yet to reopen as of this writing.  They are the War in the Pacific Historical Park on Guam, the American Memorial Park on Saipan,  Diamond Head State Monument on Oahu and Kalaupapa National Historical Park on Molokai.

The Pearl Harbor National Memorial reopened in June but was shut down again later in the summer for another month.  It reopened a third time in late September when state and county officials approved new orders allowing museums to reopen with certain restrictions.

All this happened as our ecommerce site is undergoing construction.

We apologize for that inconvenience. While we work to get the permanent online store back up, we have a temporary store available.

We are continuing with our popular History Talks sessions. And we are launching virtual field trips to bring the stories of Pearl Harbor and World War II in the Pacific to students in Hawaii, the Mainland and worldwide.

We do thank you for your support during these tough times.

Lou Conter shares his Pearl Harbor experiences with high school students throughout Northern California, and he returns to the USS Arizona every December to take part in National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day activities to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. In 2019, Conter was one of only three remaining crew members out of the 335 who had survived the attack on the USS Arizona. He was the only survivor able to attend the memorial event. - Excerpt from the book The Lou Conter Story
