An exceptional firsthand account of the incarceration of a Hawaii Japanese during World War II. On the evening of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Soga the editor of a Japanese-language newspaper, was arrested along with several hundred other prominent Issei (Japanese immigrants) in Hawaii. After being held for six months on Sand Island, Soga was transferred to an army camp in Lordsburg, New Mexico, and later to a Justice Department camp in Santa Fe. He would spend just under four years in custody before returning to Hawaii in the months following the end of the war.
Most of what has been written about the detention of Japanese Americans focuses on the Nisei experience of mass internment on the West Coast - largely because of the language barrier immigrant writers faced. This translation, therefore, presents us with a rare Issei voice on internment, and Soga's opinions challenge many commonly held assumptions about Japanese Americans during the war regarding race relations, patriotism, and loyalty.

I am really pleased with my flag in honor of my brother. The only thing was that they didn’t put he was in the U.S.M.C. Other than that I greatly appreciate what they do. Been neat to have a pic of it.

The shirt is great. My only complaint is it doesn't come in another color. I'm not a big fan of dark blue. It is a great way to honor our country and not forget the past.
got this Medallion in a set of items including the Diamond Head Certificate, Diamond Head Medallion and the Diamond Head Bench Marking pin. We did both during our last visit and loved the experience.
I’m playing catch up with just now getting the walking stick medallions of the places I’ve been in the last 3 years. I purchased this set with the Arizona and Diamond Head medallion along with the Diamond Head Cert and the Bench Mark pin for a good price and I’m really happy with all items.
a nice piece to add to our travels collection my wife and I simply put both of our names onto the cert with the date we climbed in the circle. Printed very nicely and I purchase a nice certificate frame for it.
