USS Oklahoma Memorial Magnet

USS Oklahoma Memorial

The Memorial, designed by architect Don Beck of Oklahoma City, has 429 marble standards seven feet tall, each bearing the name of one of the shipmates who perished aboard the ship as a result of the surprise attack on battleship row. The Memorial, a unit of the National Park Service stands a few hundred yards from where the USS Oklahoma sank on Dec. 7, 1941, which will forever be remembered as "a date of infamy." Dec. 7, 2007, will forever be remembered as the day the 429 who died were finally given the Memorial they have so long deserved.
